Brand Technician

A brand technician is responsible for ensuring that the products meet the quality standards and specifications of the brand. A brand technician may also be involved in the design and development of new products, as well as the communication and collaboration with the manufacturers and suppliers.

Job Responsibility

  • To manage a team of Brand Technical & Quality Auditor to provide technical support to the factory to ensure the product quality conformed with Brand approval and requirements.
  • To work with the Brand towards self-inspection empowerment with 3rd party certification to our Brand technical


Job Duties

  • To manage 3rd party certification of his Brand Technical & Quality Auditor team.
  • To manage his Brand Technical & Quality Auditor team to provide technical support to the factory by:
  1. Work with Factory order controller on order status and plan Pre-production meeting date.
  2. Verify materials “fabrics & accessories” conform with Brand approved standards and pass with 3rd party lab test report and in-house lab test report before issuing for use in production.
  3. Review styling technical-package details and samples to conduct a risk analysis to call out all high-risk critical processes and operations.
  4. Lead the Pre-production meeting “PPM” with the order controller, share risk analysis call out on high-risk critical processes or operations to the production team to put in place mistake proofing process, methodology machinery, etc for production.
  5. Follow up on the pilot run to ensure the factory produces apple-to-apple quality as approved sample, and call out on any discrepancies to production to make immediate improvements ( report ).
  6. To check functioning trims (zipper, button, snap, rivet, eyelet….) pass functioning and safety tests.
  7. Keep for reference, an internal pilot-run report on product visual & measurement conformity.
  8. During Quick Change Over (QCO) line setup, ensure each operation is mistake-proof and the product is right the first time, every time ( RFT ).
  9. To follow up on daily production work in progress status (WIP), certify (WIP) record in shipping schedule report for correctness in Apparel EZI.
  10. Carry out daily inline inspection and official inline inspection when finishing output meets 10% or above.
  11. Classify product conforming & non-conforming quality acceptance standards, there should not be any grey area, it is either "yes (White) or no (Black).
  12. To work with the order controller to verify and select the TOP sample or production sample before sending it to the Brand.
  13. To verify for correctness the packing method & information are according to Brand instructions.
  14. To conduct an internal pre-final inspection style-wise based on product packing completion of 80% and above. ( report )
  15. To conduct a Final Random inspection audit (FRI) based on the quality accepted level by the brand.
  16. To conduct weekly Factory technical audits by walking through the whole production process, report nonconformity to Factory management to take corrective action, and report to Top Management. “product safety checks must meet USA “CPSIA” and Europe "GPSA" requirements”.

  • To review the certified Brand Technical & Quality Auditor self-inspection report to decide to release the shipment.
  • To work with Brand or 3rd party inspector on the inspection results, work with Brand Technical & Quality
  • Auditor to review the findings and a “CAP to fix the oversight quality issues.
  • To submit on time daily factory Quality reports to superior, management, and Brand if required.
  • To submit monthly Brand Technical & Quality Audit Team KPI report to management on Inspection failure and defect rate by Factory & Brand.
  • Other duties as required and that may occasionally be necessary to support the business.

Management or Supervisory Duties:

  • Enforcing Policy: Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures, offering wisdom when appropriate and discipline when necessary. Enforce company policy to cultivate an environment that makes employees hold one another accountable for their actions.
  • Staffing: To interview, identify, hire, and train new employees. To coach and further develop existing employees.
  • Leadership: To provide the employees and their resources with enough guidance, direction, leadership, and support necessary to ensure that they can accomplish their goals. To develop team members through positive and constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Set Goals: To possess the ability to set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with the company’s plans and vision and communicate them to subordinates.
  • Delegation: To possess the ability to delegate a section/team workload effectively and monitor its progress toward completion while not delegating the ultimate responsibility for this work. To possess the ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each staff member and give them work that they can complete effectively while also challenging them to achieve more.
  • Communication: To be able to effectively communicate with both staff and superiors as well as convey the necessary information to the various stakeholders concerned.
  • Collaboration: To serve as a role model for working together. Encourage and support cross-functional efforts and model collaborative behaviors to set a positive example for team members.
  • Monitoring: To monitor the department section or team to ensure that the plan to achieve the goals set is being carried out in such a way that its accomplishment is assured while initiating action to strengthen results.
  • Motivate: To motivate staff and create an environment where employees can thrive and succeed. Create an open, positive, and innovative work culture.
  • Coaching: To coach and train staff on new policies, workflows, technologies, or systems to help them perform their positions more efficiently.
  • Organizing: To organize the workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
  • Support: To provide support in problem resolution and decision-making.
  • Succession Planning: To carry out succession planning which helps to prepare for smooth staff transitions in the event of deployment and staffing changes within the organization.
  • Mentorship: To ensure that staff members are assigned mentors and given mentoring guidance to ensure staff members’ professional development to improve the professional knowledge, competence, skillset, and effectiveness of the individual staff and the department, section, or team.
  • 7S Work Place: To implement a 7S workplace and maintain a safe, secure, and legal work environment.
  • Financial: To monitor and control assets, expenses, and budgets.
  • Handling Pressure: The business world is often competitive and challenging, so an effective manager or supervisor should possess the ability to withstand the pressure and thrive in a high-stakes environment.
  • Adaptation: The business sector is constantly changing, and managers or supervisors should possess the ability to adapt to alternative technologies, management structures, and forms of communication.
  • Initiative: To be proactive and take the initiative to take action when necessary and not wait for their superiors to give instructions.


Requirements

  • Diploma or courses in Quality Control or fashion-related field.
  • At least 15 years of working experience in garment production manufacturing.
  • A strong communicator with excellent spoken and written English, Chinese (Mandarin) is an advantage
  • Proficiency in computer, Microsoft Word/ Excel, ERP, and other office applications.
  • Strong management, planning & organization skills, able to multi-task in fast fast-paced environment and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong business sense, negotiation, and persuasive skills, capable of dealing with overseas buyers/factories independently;
  • Highly motivated, self-initiated, customer-oriented, and willing to achieve objectives with a clear vision.
  • Presentable, responsible, result-oriented, and a good team player and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a strong sense of urgency, and immediately report with options and resolution.
  • To be stationed in Cambodia Headquarters.
